What is HitchGoblin™?
A safety system that takes the guesswork out of towing. It cuts through the confusing tables of weights and limits and does the maths for you — working out the real constraints on your outfit and giving you a clear, solid answer about whether it’s safe to load and drive, before you ever get on the road.
The App
It’s a calculator that tells you exactly what information it needs and where to find it — no digging through manuals. It walks you through three stages: your tow car, your caravan, and a final summary that shows exactly where any problem areas are in your loading.
At the end, it can print, save or email a Certificate of Loading as a permanent record.
The HitchGoblin Gauge & Sensors
For live, real-time measurement while you’re hitched up, the Gauge adds hardware on top of the app. It measures the actual load on the hitch as you load, so you can see your caravan is loaded correctly — both before you set off and while you’re making final adjustments.
It’s built around two load cells, clamped to the underside of the draw-bar (“A-frame”), just behind the jockey wheel, which measure how much the draw bar flexes under load. Those signals are processed and shown on a colour display that gives you the actual nose weight and the maximum and minimum for your outfit, with a background colour telling you where you stand at a glance:
- Red — over- or under-loaded
- Amber — close, but not quite there
- Green — the sweet spot
The display also shows battery and charging status. The connectors are magnetic, so they pull free cleanly if a cable gets snagged, rather than risking permanent damage. A window clip is included too, so you can face the display outward through the caravan window while you’re loading up — no crouching at the tow ball with a separate spring-type gauge that has to be placed, read and removed for every check, and that can pinch a finger or land on a foot if it slips.
